Welcome!
On this page, you can learn about Sternbergopolis Online, our mission, the inner-workings of Sternbergopolis Online, and much more!
Our Mission
Our mission is to inform Sternbergopolis, as well as everyone else in the Universe, about "what's goin' on in The 'Opolis." Sternbergopolis Online provides information about and for Sternbergopolans. We have numerous features necessary for the everyday duties of a Sternbergopolan citizen, as well as those who wish to join our family. Since 2010, Sternbergopolis Online has been a one-stop informational Internet resource for all, and our "parents," the Sternbergopolis Department of Information & Communication, has been providing similar resources since 2007.
History of Sternbergopolis Online
Sternbergopolis Online started out in 2007, shortly after the "re-birth" of Sternbergopolis. Originally called "Sternbergopolis.gov.opolis," it was one website that featured specialised pages for government departments, as well as citizenship information. It was only available in Sternbergopolis. Sternbergopolis.gov.opolis failed in June 2008. However, the federal government stayed hard at work constructing a whole new web experience. On December 21, 2009, sternbergopolis.com was purchased for $10.87 in both Sternbergopolis and the USA. For the following months, President Sternberg assisted the government in creating the perfect Sternbergopolan online experience. Using a web designer called "Wix," sternbergopolis.com went live on the Internet at 10:03 PM IZST on 10 February 2010. The site featured the "Provinces" section, the "History" section, and the discontinued "President's Corner" section.
Unfortunately, due to limited design options and awkward an web layout, the government decided to make some big changes to Sternbergopolis.com. on 22 March 2010, we chose a new web designer (Webs), and renamed the website "Sternbergopolis Online." By 29 March, we had established our Facebook account, along with various other social accounts which are now inactive. On 1 April, the new and improved Sternbergopolis Online debuted, with most of the features we know and love today. On 1 August 2010, the federal government gave Sternbergopolis Online to us, the Sternbergopolis Online Management Team, which in turn is a division of the Department of Media (the Department of Media became the Department of Information & Communication starting in 2012). In 2011, some major difficulties occurred with our web designer, Webs. They began not allowing us to add pages, apps, and features, and limiting the amount of space we were able to have on the site. After many hard months of deliberation and arguing, we finally decided that we'd had enough, and began designing a temporary site in order to "bridge the gap" between all of the big changes. It debuted on 26 August 2011. Changes were also made that removed "The President's Corner," replacing it with an Earth version of President Sternberg's own personal website. We currently construct, design, and update all of Sternbergopolis Online and its subsidiaries. After months of dealing with the buggy and awkwardly laid out temporary site, we came to our friends at Weebly and designed the site you use today. It debuted on 10 February 2012, in honour of Sternbergopolis Online's second anniversary. All of the other "big changes" were made under wraps while users continued to use the site. At last, after waiting so long, the Sternbergopolis Online as we know it today (Sternbergopolis Online 2.0, as we nicknamed it), went up as a preview 1 July 2012. It was open for business on 1 September 2012 and completely finished by 1 September 2013, introducing a new, more fitting logo and finishing up a few minor sections over the summer of 2013. With small improvements being made over time, Sternbergopolis Online was declared officially complete for the first time in its history on 1 January 2016, some six years after its beginning.
Today, Sternbergopolis Online has grown to a vast family of informational resources and a social hub for everybody!
