This map is colour-coded to show how the land of Sternbergopolis has been acquired throughout history to form the nation we today call Sternbergopolis. The bold lines show what the original land looked like before it was acquired. Pay attention to how the bold lines do not exactly match up with modern provincial boundaries, but do so for the most part.

A Side Note: Persyton
The capital and by far the largest city in Sternbergopolis, the bustling metropolis that is Peryston was formerly part of the province of Parkerbury. After growing far too large far too rapidly in terms of area and population, the provincial government of Parkerbury was no longer able to financially control the city. After months of deliberation in the Assembly, it was agreed that as of 1 September 2011, all government ties between the province of Parkerbury and the city of Persyton would be cut off, and as of 1 January 2012, the city of Peryston was officially separated from the province and organised into its own self-governing area, known as a Special Administrative District (SAD). This way, all of the federal government functions could be carried out smoothly while the city can sustain itself. The executive, instead of a governor, is the mayor, and his advisers are city council members and other legislative bodies. Persyton is also represented with a seat in the Assembly, and has similar departments and government programmes as the provinces do.
